Following the completion of the largest solar power plant 'Longjing PV power plant' in Taichung with an annual electricity output of 8 million kwh green power electricity at that time in 2014, Taipower today (20180208) conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Chang-bin Solar PV Power Plant. Taipower stated that this was the first time Taipower worked with Chunghwa Telecom on the Chang-bin project to utilize the land of an area of 140 hectares, approximately the equivalent of 28 baseball fields, and to invest NT$6.2 billion to build a solar PV power plant which is the largest in Taiwan and the 54th largest in the world. The installed capacity of this solar PV power plant will reach 100MW (10 KW) and its installed capacity, investment amount and power output are all ranked number one in Taiwan with an annual electricity output of 130 million kwh green power electricity after completion, which shall supply power for more than 30,000 households for their energy consumption throughout the year.

Taipower pointed out that the total area of Chang-bin Solar PV Power Plant is about 152 hectares, of which 140 hectares shall be used for 339,000 solar panels to create the largest 100 MW solar farm in Taiwan. The rest of land, about 10 hectares, shall be used for the construction of the booster station facilities for offshore wind power's integration with onshore national grid in the future. The construction shall begin after today's groundbreaking ceremony by a construction group of around 1,000 personnel in hope that the first kwh electricity can be generated by the end of this year. Taipower shall also incorporate Chunghwa Telecom's professions in information communication and IoT technology to simultaneously monitor the power generation status through cloud-based smart platform in the future.
