  • The urban renewal project for the Northern Distribution Center completed the comprehensive evaluation on September 11. Kindom Construction Corp. was qualified as the best applicant and plans to construct commercial and residential composite buildings.

Taipower pointed out that the the urban renewal project for the Northern Distribution Center is the first open evaluation urban renewal project in Taiwan conducted by state-owned enterprise. The base of the project covers an area of 1.57 hectares and is located at the starting point of the Taipei East Gateway Project connecting with the Xinyi Special District. The base is foursquare and is appropriate for large-scale development, which is rarely seen in Taipei City. The land-use district for the base is "Special Business District (10)". The base is close to the Section 6, Zhongxiao East Road, and is near by public facilities such as Songshan Station, MRT Houshanpi Station and Nangang Sports Center. It is located in an urban that features convenient traffic routes and abundant living requirements. In the future, Taipower will regain the ownership of the commercial building through the transfer of rights, and the future operator will guarantee a 10-year lease to ensure continuous rental income for Taipower.

The Northern Distribution Center was once the only corporate-level warehouse of Taipower, responsible for the supply and management of various electrical equipment and components, explained Taipower. As the city continues to develop and the existing buildings are to old for operation, the Distribution Center of Taipower was relocated to Taoyuan in 2014, and the land of the old Northern Distribution Center was released. The plan is to revitalize the land through urban renewal, hoping to promote the prosperity and development of the Nangang area.

The urban renewal project was officially announced on December 31, 2020 and open for application until April 29, 2021, said Taipower. After the qualification review in May, a total of 8 applicants were eligible. The best applicant has been selected through comprehensive evaluation a few days ago. We would like to thank all the applicants for submitting their designs and ideas based on the highest quality and standards. In the future, Taipower will continue to promote the revitalization and utilization of lands. It is hoped that partners from the industry will continue to collaborate with Taipower to jointly promote local development.
