Taichung Combined Cycle Power Plant Project

Project Description

Background

Respond to the growth of domestic power consumption, Taiwan Power Company (TPC) follows the government’s energy policy and promotes the " Taichung Combined Cycle Power Plant Project" to ensure stable power supply. TPC plans to install two gas-fired Combined Cycle units in adjacent to the existing Taichung coal-fired Power Plant station , with a total capacity of about 2.6million kilowatts. This project also includes one berth liquefied natural gas(LNG) unloading pier, a LNG gasification terminal with five LNG storage tanks and associated auxiliary facilities and pipelines, which will be TPC’s first built and self-operated LNG terminal.

Project Location and Scope

The Taichung Combined Cycle Power Plant Project, covering an area of 13.4 hectares, is seated in the Southern of Unit 9 and Unit 10 coal-fired units of Taichung Power Plant.

Construction Status:

  1. Power Block: #1 first fire on 2025/6/30. commissioning test are currently being carried out; #2 Cable Installation and the construction structure are currently being carried out.

  2. Circulating Water System: #1 MCW system operated on 2025/5/9 ,#2 MCW system operated on 2026/2/13.
