Background
In line with the government's energy policy and in response to the long-term growth in electricity demand, considering the retirement of existing units and the need to balance power development with environmental protection, Taipower is actively enhancing the overall operational performance and competitiveness of its power plants. Therefore, Taipower will increase the planning of natural gas power plants and, according to the latest long-term power development plan, promote the “Tung-Hsiao Power Plant 2nd Stage Renewal Project” (hereinafter referred to as “the Project”).
The Project will utilize approximately 10 hectares of land, including the vacant space left by the decommissioning of Units 4 and 5 at the Tung-Hsiao Power Plant and other remaining areas within the plant site. It plans to install gas-fired combined cycle units with a total net output of 270 to 330 MW, which is expected to promptly fill the future power supply gap.
Project Location and Scope
The Project will use the vacant land freed from the demolition of Units 4 and 5 at the Tung-Hsiao Power Plant site, along with remaining available plant space, to install five gas-fired combined cycle units.
